Charles W. (Wes) Shelton – Founder, President and Principal Consultant
Drawing on decades of design, engineering, manufacturing and quality sciences experience, Wes Shelton is the President, Principal Consultant, and driving force behind the organization. He has worked with Texas Instruments, Kimball International, Hyster Co., Alcoa Closure Systems International and Danville Metal Stamping to bring quality and productivity improvements to these and other organizations. Most recently, he has served as the Director of Metrology Training and Education for Vincennes University.
Wes is a results oriented individual with a passion for manufacturing and quality excellence. In one manufacturing startup – using modern quality, manufacturing, and Lean technologies before they were “cool”, he reduced the lead time of the product from 8 weeks to 45 hours and reduced finishing costs by over 70%. He brings that drive to his clients and their employees so they can achieve the breakthroughs and not just merely survive.
Wes holds a B.S. Degree from Indiana State University in Mechanical Technology and a M.S. Degree from Indiana State University in HRD, specializing in Training and Training Development. He is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and maintains membership in the honorary fraternities of Epsilon Pi Tau and Phi Kappa Phi. Wes holds ASQ certifications as a Certified Quality Inspector, Certified Quality Technician, Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer and Six Sigma Green Belt. He has been the Program Chair for the Machine Tool Program at the Ivy Tech Indianapolis Campus and has been an adjunct faculty for both Ivy Tech and Vincennes University. He has authored the instructional text “Quality Technology for the CNC Machinist” used by Vincennes University for both on campus and workforce development projects.
Diana S. Shelton – Vice President and Mathematical Consultant
As a seasoned educator, Diana Shelton is the co-founder of the organization and serves as the Mathematical Consultant and program developer. Diana has taught in both public and private school systems from middle school through high school. At a private school in Illinois, Diana developed an Algebra program for the middle school where none had existed before.
Seeing a need as Indiana begin the ISTEP testing process, Diana developed the ISTEP Mathematical Review Manual and Solution Guide used by high schools across the state. This material serves as the basis for our Practical Shop Math Manual.
Diana holds a B.S. Degree from Indiana State University in Special Education with a minor in mathematics and a M.S. Degree from Indiana State University in Mathematics. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
